15 Savage Times Fans Roasted Celebs

When mankind was being introduced to the concept of virtual interacting platforms and taking its first baby-steps into the world social media, little did we apprehend the dimensionality it would go on to assume in everyday lives, let alone the potpourri of spices it was about to shower on our otherwise mundane routines.

Needless to say, the age of social media has transformed the world into a somewhat bitsy place, where reaching out to people and our much-coveted silver-screen heroes is but just a qwerty pad away. Especially with Twitter and Instagram leading this fan brigade, celebrities have come under scanner more than ever before-we know them as they sleep, eat, breathe and repeat! And now, while this influx has indeed managed to bring aboard the bigwigs and their backers on the same levelling ground, it has also set alight this infectious trend of roasting. Some of these are outright knee-slappers, others, malicious to the 3rd degree.

The internet is a savage place and can be a curse to those magnified by the public lens. Here is a list of the 15 most off-the-wall celeb singes caused by Twitterati and Instagrammers that is sure to leave you in splits. To those on the receiving end, humour tastes best when served with a pinch of salt.

    15 Nicole Kidman's 'Seal Clap'

Let's begin with our very own Nicole Kidman who sent ripples across social media on Oscars'17 night for a rather concerning reason, her heteromorphic way of clapping (or should we say flapping!). The actor who was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in the film Lion, demonstrated a peculiar clapping technique wherein her fingers were directing theatrically outwards with only her palms touching during the process. As expected, Twitter picked up the 49-year-old actor's clapping catastrophe and went on dissect the act in the most zingy ways possible. Memes and trolls were plentiful, some of the best including one that matches her to Edward Scissorhands. Another one compares her clapping to that of a seal flapping its fins animatedly. This one appears to be the more widely-accepted conjecture given her legible parity to the animal. The actor consequently went on record to explain her weird clapping, attributing it to a stunning pear-shaped diamond ring on her finger. She was too afraid of damaging it, she said. We believe you, Nicole.

14 Priyanka Chopra's MetGala Trench Coat

When it comes to fashion, Priyanka Chopra does not go wrong. The lady has never fumbled from being the true show stopper she really is, ever since she claimed the Miss World crown. However, Met Gala 2017 tells a different story. The Quantico girl managed to bring social media traffic to a staggering halt as she stepped out on the red carpet in a custom Ralph Lauren trench coat. While many gloated over the choice of outfit, the gown accentuated by a remarkably long train, like a flash became the bull's eye of Twitter's attention. From drawing likeness to Harry Potter's flying broomstick to Aladdin's magic carpet to the great desert of Sahara, netizens actively participated in a zealous Photoshop battle over the attire-so much so that there has been nearly 16,000 tweets solely about Chopra! But does the girl have a sense of humour! She went about handpicking her choicest memes from the lot and posted them on her page, encouraging her followers for more.

13 When Steve Harvey Announced The Wrong Miss Universe

When the host of the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant declared the wrong winner, the moment went down in the history of Twitter trolls. And there was no easy way out for Steve Harvey from this one. Harvey's blooper traced the crown cruising to Miss Colombia before quickly switching heads and landing on Miss Philippines as the man regretfully admitted to have misread the cards. Cybernauts were in no mood to let Harvey off the hooks, with even Burger King and Washington Wizards having a go at the host. While the food chain used the opportunity to assure customers of their integrity through the tweet, the wizards pondered upon the havoc Harvey would have wreaked had he been the announcer for the 2010 NBA Draft.

    12 Mariah Carey's Lip-Sync Fiasco On New Year's

Moments after Mariah Carey took the stage at New York City's Times Square on New Year's Eve, her lips paved way for a blitz of stinging trolls. It became apparent that her lips were not tallying with the vocals booming on the live broadcast. How embarrassing for the notorious diva. Could you imagine the scene she must have made afterwards backstage? Though Carey tried to pass it away as a technical glitch and coaxed the audience to play along even as her background dancers continued with their routine, the viewers were far from buying into it. The backlash on Twitter was relentless with the pop star abruptly leaving the stage with her parting words, 'it just does not get any better'. A performance that pretty much summed up 2016 indeed…

11 When Hillary Asked Trump To Delete His Twitter Account

When presidential candidates shlep along the millennial trail to take a shot at one another, netizens can only sit back and rejoice in its cheap thrills. This one of course proved to be a clear winner for Mrs. Clinton, sending followers to a frenzy shortly afterwards. The former Secretary of State perhaps was tired of being referred to as 'Crooked Hillary'. We are even inclined to consider that she might have been a tad less harsh had Donald Trump at least made an attempt at a new name-calling. When Trump typed out his thoughts on then President Barrack Obama backing Democrat presidential hopeful, Hillary Clinton, on Twitter, writing: "Obama just endorsed Crooked Hillary. He wants four more years of Obama - but nobody else does!", Clinton checked in a short, simple and scorching reply: "Delete your account." The social media showdown that ensued was legendary, to say the least, with Mrs. Clinton's tweet being retweeted 210,000 times within two hours.

10 Oscars' Epic Mix-Up: Moonlight Not La La Land

In one of the most thundering goof-ups in the history of the Oscars, the 89th Academy Awards became the laughingstock for netizens as the winner for the Best Picture was erroneously called out as La La Land by presenter Warren Beatty instead of Moonlight. The momentous Oscar upset, the phenomenal embarrassment and the collective jaw-drop was further fuelled on Twitter with people not only expressing their doubts over the other winners, but also going on to draw parallels with the 2015 Miss Universe fiasco. Inevitable comparisons to Steve Harvey's gaffe topped the charts, but the Miss Universe Twitter handle quickly made the Oscars know of their allegiance and expressed how much they felt their pain: "Have your people call our people - we know what to do."

9 Bow Wow's Fake PJ Gram

All was going well in Bow Wow's world until Shad Moss (commonly referred to as Bow Wow) posted a photo on Instagram captioning: "Travel Day. NYC press run for Growing Up Hip Hop. Let's gooo. I promise to bring yall the hottest show EVER. May 25th on @wetv." The photo was of a private jet, apparently the one that Moss was likely to board. But, as it appears, the private jet story couldn't make the flight-all credits to a fellow passenger, who proved sharp as a tack in clicking the 30-year-old visibly flying coach to New York City and posting it on Snapchat. Calling his bluff, the internet erupted with the #BowWowChallenge inviting fans to 'fake it like Bow Wow and tweet like a millionaire.' The aftermath was beyond hilarious. Hundreds of followers began sharing Instagram vs Reality photos and Photoshopping geniuses achieved new heights. The jokes wouldn't stop-from fabricated Hawaiian holidays to fake dates, netizens did it all.

    8 CeeLo Green's Grammy Outfit

For those who missed it, this is actually CeeLo Green taking on the Grammys'17 in the most bizarre outfit in recent memory. He dressed from head to toe in gold, supposedly intending to impersonate some super villain. Now, Twitter obviously didn't want to miss out on this 'golden' opportunity, as Green so graciously pitched himself as a sacrifice most suited to their tastes. Ruthless and cutthroat as always, the Twitterati meted out some of the whackiest smoulders making CeeLo's fashion sense the roast of the evening. While there was a mammoth lineup of gags to pick from, the one comparing him to a Ferrero Rocher chocolate shoots ahead of the rest by a fair margin. After all, you simply can't deny the uncanny resemblance.

7 How Justin Bieber Gave Purpose To The Indian Twitterati

From hysterical teenagers to euphoric adults, the DY Patil stadium in Mumbai that night was crammed with 56,000 people from all across India; all of them agog with anticipation even after braving tedious hours in the scorching summer sun. And the reason for the mania was none other than Justin Bieber. It was the 23-year-old Canadian singer's first-ever live performance in a country, which doesn't often get to encounter global celebrities like him. But it didn't take long for all that buzz to transform into dismay once Bieber took the stage. Because, not only did he deliver a horribly botched-up lip sync act, he didn't even take attempts to make his fake act believable. He was actually wiping his mouth with a towel mid-performance even as the song continued to play. Quite obviously, Bieber's gig didn't go quite as planned and trolling began. And a lot of it. Twitterati didn't stop at mocking the Prince of Pop, some fans even demanded an apology from him for the money they wasted on him.

6 When Kendall And Pepsi Posed As Troll Targets

People were not thrilled when Kendall Jenner offered to solve all the problems of the big, bad world simply by handing a Pepsi can to a police officer. In the two minute 39 seconds commercial launched by Pepsi, Kendall was seen breaking free from the shackles of her modelling life by taking off her wig and leaving a photo shoot mid-way to join a protest. Soon after, she was shown restoring balance with so much as a can of soda for peace offering. The internet couldn't agree any less and within 48 hours the video got nearly 1.6 billion views on YouTube, with trolls and memes roaring across all social media platforms on the sheer absurdity and mindlessness of the ad. One of them particularly drew out a hilarious semblance between the soda-peddling act to that of nurse Ieshia Evans' picture facing down police in the Baton Rogue protest in Louisiana, just to bring forth the flat-out tastelessness of it.

5 Even Victoria Beckham Can't Be Spared

Now, who doesn't paint their nails like this? Celeste Barber, who loves trolling celebs on Instagram, couldn't refrain from taking a dig at the ever-posh Victoria Beckham when the latter shared a picture of herself painting her nails in the most ethereal way known to womankind. She is seen lying on a couch with one of her legs stretching out in a perfect right angle as she effortlessly applies paint on her nails. In a fitting response to the image, Barber shows exactly how comical any of us might look in that position trying to pull a feat like VB's. She captioned the image: "Don't you hate it when you are doing your nails and you get a CRAMP?" The simple act of painting your nails is not so simple after all, especially if you want to be in Posh Spice's shoes.

4 Because Wrinkles Don't Twinkle, Shane Warne

When it comes to selfies, Shane Warne is the unspoken king of Instagram. The 47-year-old spinner is quite a regular with the photo-sharing app and has a whopping  671,000 followers. However, his fans were not too impressed after Warne posted a natural unedited picture of himself showing off his wrinkles. The filter-free picture invited an entire cross section of savage shots aimed at the cricketer's fading looks and age. While some let him off with advises of sunblock measures, others proved not so kind. A particularly unforgiving fan said: "Think there's been some trench warfare on that forehead". It beats me why people don't accept the natural human process of aging. Sadly, it has become completely taboo, and the norm is to opt towards plastic surgery, Botox, or fillers to hide any sign of aging.

3 Lady Gaga And Super Bowl Trolls

In what was perhaps one of the most ruthless instances of body-shaming, Lady Gaga became the target for haters. The 31-year-old singer was rocking her Super Bowl gig with panache when half-way through the performance she took time out for a change of costumes, and that's when hell broke loose. As Gaga swayed her way back on stage in a crop top and silver shorts for the second half of her act, some of her fans got distracted by her not-so-perfect belly and it went on to become the talking point of netizens, stealing away all the thunder from her outstanding concert. Social media went abuzz with memes and sneering gags of how flabby and loose her stomach was, instead of the expected washboard deal that all stars must necessarily be equipped with.

2 When Kim Kardashian's Best ASSet Let Her Down

This proved to be an uncustomary low blow for the selfie queen. For not only did her so-called perfect posterior let her down big-time, it also turned Kim K into a poor 'butt' of all jokes. Her unsuspecting fans, of course, were in for a rude shock when the un-airbrushed photo of the 36-year-old's derriere emerged on social media. The insta click showed the reality TV star strolling down a Mexican beach, flaunting her desirable curves, only this time they were not so 'desirable' sans the usual photoshopping merits. Followers were outraged by the evident cellulite on her greatest asset paving way for much unpleasantries and name-calling. One absolutely savage remark involved her alikeness to a 'squidward after eating too many krabby patties'. What more, it even cost her a 100,000 Instagram followers!

1 Ivanka Trump's Untimely Date Night

Ivanka Trump's timing could not have been worse. It was just another day. Her father, President Donald Trump, had pronounced the Executive Order of shutting down the country's borders for refugees and migrants from seven Islamic countries, including those from war-ravaged Syria. People from far and wide had taken to the streets in protest against this act, while some had also resorted to social media to express their angst. Now while the world was busy lamenting the injustice, the opportune moment was picked by Ivanka to give the despondent mob at large, a sneak-peek into her dinner date plans. She went on to broadcast a picture on Instagram of herself and husband Jared Kushner, just before taking off for an exclusive social gathering at the Alfalfa Club Dinner. As a matter of course, this did not go down very well with the social media regulars, with many calling it a callous and insensitive stunt.
