Then And Now 15 90s Stars We Were Obsessed With

Sure, it may be almost 2017, but 90s nostalgia is still alive and well. We can't go a single day without social media posts about longing for 90s music, TV and of course, the stars from that time. We can't blame them, to be honest. Of course, we love today's celebrities, but stars like Justin Timberlake and Melissa Joan Hart will always hold a special place in our hearts. In a way, we kind of grew up with them, and we will always feel like we know them a lot better than the stars of today. These people were there for us during our confusing and crazy teenage years, and we looked to them for advice about boys and dating. Now that we're adults, we can look back on these 90s celebrities when  we want to feel all warm and fuzzy. These stars were once our guide for the future, and now they're one of our strongest connections to the past. Here's what some of them have been up to. Here are 15 90s stars we were obsessed with, then and now. Get ready to get super nostalgic.

15 Tiffany Amber Theisen

Then: Tiffany Amber Theisen is best known for her role as Kelly on the 90s teen show Saved By The Bell (known formerly as Good Morning, Miss Bliss). From 1989-1993, Tiffany played Kelly Kapowski, the spunky cheerleader with a winning smile and killer fashion sense. Oh, she was also the apple to 90s hottie, Zach Morris's, eye. (Still jealous of that relationship, by the way.) Once the sitcom ended, she landed a great role on Beverly Hills: 90210 as Valerie Malone. She also starred in a string of small to moderate movies and had a few guest spots on various shows.

Now: Unlike a lot of child stars, Tiffany has enjoyed a pretty consistent career. Though her fame in the 90s will probably always be unmatched, she's had steady work since the show that originally made her famous. Her show Blue Collar  wrapped up production in 2014 and in 2015, she appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in Saved By The Bell sketch that ended up going totally viral. That same year, she started hosting and executive producing a cooking show Dinner at Tiffany's on the Cooking Channel (which you should definitely check out!)

14 Brian Austen Green

Then: Brian Austen Green is best known for playing the lovable yet super hot dork David Silver on Beverly Hills, 90210 from 1990-2000. But while that was the role that put him on the acting map, he has had a lot of other roles. During the 80s and 90s, Brian appeared in shows such as Knots Landing, The New Leave It To Beaver, and A Friend's Betrayal. In the early 2000s, he had roles on shows ranging from George Lopez to Smallville to Desperate Housewives.

Now: Today, Brian is 43 years old and as hot as ever! Seriously. He's married to actress Megan Fox and while the couple has had their ups and downs, they seem to really care about each other, and they have three kids together. Despite raising a growing family, Brian still works in Hollywood. His most recent role? He played Sean Healy on Anger Management from 2012-2014.

13 Tia Mowry- Hardict

Then: Tia Mowry is best known for her role as the studious Tia Landry on the ABC show Sister, Sister, which was on the air from 1994 until 1999. The show was about twins who were separated at birth, found each other in a mall at 14 and convinced their adoptive parents to move in together and raise them. Tia played the straight-A, goody two shoe role, while her twin, Tamera, was a notorious troublemaker. Following the success of the show, Tia, and her twin starred in two Disney movies, Seventeen Again and the more popular Twitches.

Now: Tia Mowry made a super graceful transition from teen TV to more adult roles. In 2006, Tia Mowry landed a starring role on The Game, a scripted show about the dating lives of pro athletes. She played the second lead role, medical student Melanie Barnett, who was juggling her own goals while dating a rookie quarterback. The Game originally aired on the CW and was canceled in 2009… but a fan petition got BET interested and the network picked up the show for five seasons. After two years, Tia left the show because of creative differences. Tia starred then on Nick at Night's popular show Instant Mom for three seasons. Now she hosts her own cooking show called Tia Mowry At Home. She also has a book series called Twintuition with her twin, Tamera Mowry Housely.

12 Lark Voohries

Then: Lark Voorhies is best known for playing Lisa Turtle, Bayside High's resident fashionista, on Saved By The Bell from 1989 to 1993. Her character, Lisa, came from a wealthy family who basically bought her whatever she wanted, was BFFs with Kelly Kapowski and Jessie Spano, and was always up on the latest fashion… and yeah, we can admit that we were totally jealous at the time. She was also the group's gossip queen, though she never acted maliciously. In addition to that show, Lark had a string of guest spots on shows like The Bold And The Beautiful, In The House, and Family Matters. She also had a role in Most Def's How To Be A Player. She appeared in a few high-profile music videos with Kenny Latimore, Boyz II Men, Dru Hill, and Montell Jordan.

Now: Though Lark had the looks, talent, and personality to make it big in Hollywood, her career sort of plateaued around the mid-2000s. Other than being in a few straight-to-DVD movies, she doesn't have much of an acting career anymore. In 2014, some photos of Lark, wearing cakey makeup and looking kind of out of it surfaced, igniting rumors that Lark was dealing with mental health issues. It didn't help when her mom went to the press and claimed that Lark was bipolar, which she denied. Since then, Lark Voorhies has pretty much flown under the radar.

11 Tamera Mowry- Housley

Then: Tamera Mowry starred along with her real life twin sis Tia in Sister, Sister from 1994-1999. Her role was the goofy, outspoken and sometimes lazy Tamera Campbell. She provided much of the comic relief along with Marque Houston, who played their annoying neighbor Roger Evans. Following Sister, Sister, Tamera had a small role in the inspirational film Something To Sing About. She also went to star in Disney's Seventeen Again and Twitches as well as the short-lived medical drama, Strong Medicine.

Now: Today, Tamera still works in Hollywood as an actress. In recent years, she's appeared on Melissa and Joey and Baby Daddy. Since 2013, she has been a co-host on Fox's The Real, a panel format show that features women of various ethnic backgrounds. She also has a book series with Harper Collins called Twintuition. As far as her personal life, Tamera has been married to Fox News anchor, Adam Housely, since 2010, and they have two (adorable) kids together.

10 Justin Timberlake

Then: Sure, Justin Timberlake got his start on The Mickey Mouse Club as a tween. But his real big introduction to the industry was as the lead singer of 90s boy band *NSYNC. When they burst onto the scene, fans thought Justin was their favorite, but can you blame them? He was definitely the total package with his boyish good looks, swoon-worthy voice and likable personality. When *NSYNC disbanded back in 2000, Justin went on to have a stellar solo career and a pretty successful acting career, too.

Now: Justin Timberlake's career is showing no signs of slowing down, that's for sure. Since he went solo, he's released three albums: Justified, Future Sex Love Sounds, and The 20/20 Experience pt. 1 and 2. He has won 9 Grammys and headlined three successful world tours. In between the release of those albums, he's been known to take long breaks, but he's not sitting around at home. Over the years, he's starred in movies like The Social Network, Friends With Benefits and In Time. In 2012, Justin Timberlake married longtime girlfriend Jessica Biel. The couple has one child together.

9 Joey Lawrence

Then: Joey Lawrence got his start in showbiz in a Cracker Jack commercial, but boy has he come a long way. He's best known for his role as Joey Russo on the 90s comedy, Blossom. He was Mayim Bialik's funny, charming brother Joey. The show lasted for five years and was uber successful. Before he landed that role, he also appeared on Gimme A Break and voiced the role of Oliver in Oliver and Company. Years later, he starred in Brother Love, which featured his real-life brothers Matthew and Andrew Lawrence.

Now: Today, Joey still works in tinsel town. He's guest starred on various shows over the years like American Dreams, Half and Half, and Rules of the House. He's also enjoyed success in the ABC family movie My Fake Fiance. In 2010, he teamed up with fellow child star, Melissa Joan Hart, to star in ABC Family's Melissa and Joey. It lasted for five years.

8 Mayim Bialik

Then: Mayim Bialik starred in NBC's Blossom in the title role from 1990-1995. Prior to that, she landed a role in Beaches playing a young Bette Midler as well as guest appearances on Facts of Life and Beauty and the Beast. She also made an appearance in Michael Jackson's video for his song Liberian Girl.

Now: These days, Mayim Bialik is enjoying success as neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler on the hugely popular CBS show The Big Bang Theory. She is now considered part of the main cast. She also heads up the lifestyle website, Grok Nation, and has her own cookbook called Mayim's Vegan Table. Oh, did we mention that she's an actual neuroscientist? Yes, really. After Blossom ended, Mayim got a doctorate in neuroscience. She uses her real life skills to mold her character on The Big Bang Theory. She even uses her extensive vocabulary to help her co-stars pronounce the challenging terminology on the show. How cool is that?

7 John Stamos

Then: John Stamos will probably always be best known for playing Uncle Jesse on Full House from 1987-1995. People loved the slick-talking, the guitar-playing bad boy turned full-time nanny. Of course, that is his most famous role, but he's been in a ton of other stuff. John actually got his first acting break on General Hospital playing a character named Blackie Parrish. Later on, he had guest spots on You Again and The Larry Sanders Show.

Then: After Full House ended, John Stamos' next extended television gig was on ER as Dr. Tony Gates from 2005-2009. In 2015, he starred in the ABC sitcom Grandfathered but it was canceled after a single season. Today, John Stamos is still Uncle Jesse on the Full House Netflix reboot Fuller House (and we couldn't possibly be happier about that). He also has a recurring spot on MTV's Scream Queens as Dr. Brock Holt.

6 Mark-Paul Gosselaar

Then: Mark-Paul Gosselaar rose to fame as the lovable troublemaker Zack Morris on Saved By The Bell. Though most people think of this sitcom as having an ensemble cast, it pretty much goes without saying that he was the star. No matter how much he schemed, lied and scammed, he was definitely a heartthrob for teen girls everywhere. Yes, including us. After the initial run of Saved By the Bell, he went on to star in the spin-off, Saved By The Bell: The College Years for one season. But sadly, it never had the success of the original.

Now: Even though the 90s have all but faded away, Mark-Paul Gosselaar has maintained an impressive career in showbiz with various roles on Raising The Bar, Franklin and Bash and a host of others. Today, he stars in the new yet already super popular Fox show, Pitch, about the first female in professional baseball.

5 Melissa Joan Hart

Then: Melissa Joan Hart is known best for two iconic child roles in the 90s. In the early 90s, Melissa starred on Nickelodeon's Clarissa Explains It All in the title role. This lovely show was about an everyday girl going through life and trying to figure things out. Oh, and her fashion game was on point (for the 90s, at least). A few years later, Melissa starred on the even more popular teen show, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, which lasted for seven seasons on The WB. In between and during filming, she also appeared in Touched By An Angel as well as the teen movie, Drive Me Crazy.

Now: Melissa is one of the most successful former Nickelodeon stars of all time. Though she didn't land another lead role for a few years, she did appear on a variety of shows like Just Shoot Me, Law and Order: SVU and Dancing With The Stars. In 2001, she voiced the role of Becky Detweiler in Recess: School's Out. She also starred in the TV movies Holiday in Handcuffs and My Fake Fiance. And in 2010, she, along with Joey Lawrence, starred in the ABC Family (Now Freeform) comedy Melissa and Joey. It lasted from 2010-2015 before it was canceled.

4 Mario Lopez

Then: Mario Lopez's career kicked off with small roles on a.k.a Pablo and Kids Incorporated, but, of course, his role as A.C Slater on Saved By The Bell and Saved By The Bell: The College Years still have us talking so many years later. Everyone loved AC's confidence and his ability to rile up Zack Morris. And don't even get us started on his dance movies and moon crater dimples. Yup, we're still swooning over this character and we have Mario to think for that.

Now: Even though Mario is well into his 40s, he looks like he's barely aged at all in the years since Saved By The Bell. He definitely hit the genetics lottery. In the years since, Mario Lopez has had a series of roles on shows like George Lopez, Nashville, and Grease Live. But, he's mainly transitioned into an awesome TV host. He has hosted Extra since 2008 and hosted X Factor USA from 2013-2016.

3 Johnny Depp

Then: With his long, dark hair and impeccable acting skills, Johnny Depp pretty much created the broody bad boy thing. He totally became a teen idol in the late 80s/early 90s along with Edward Scissorhands.

Now: As the 90s turned into the 2000s, he found success in The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise as Captain Jack Sparrow and he has been in a slew of other films like The Corpse Bride and Alice In Wonderland. In recent years, he's opted for darker, more eccentric roles, and it's totally worked for him. Johnny Depp is definitely one of the most successful actors of the last 40 years, possibly of all time. That said, his personal life hasn't been nearly as successful. In 2016, his second wife (now ex-wife) filed for divorce and alleged that there was physical abuse. Depp has denied those claims on multiple occasions, but the public opinion has been split.

2 Kirk Cameron

Then: Kirk Cameron stole everyone's hearts as Mike Seaver on Growing Pains from 1985-1992. He pretty much started the whole teen heartthrob thing that Hollywood loves to capitalize from. He also starred in a few movies like Like Father, Like Son and Listen To Me. After Growing Pains finally ended, he starred in his own show, Kirk, for two years on The WB. Of course, we must mention that he also landed a guest role on Full House as DJ Tanner's cousin… and oh yeah, Candace Cameron aka DJ is his famous sister.

Now: After the success of Growing Pains, everyone expected Kirk Cameron's career to take off, but that's not exactly what happened. Instead of leveraging his success as a teen star, Kirk has taken a backseat from stardom to focus on his Christian faith. Since the early 2000s, he has produced and starred in Christian movies, the most popular being 2008's Fireproof, which became the highest earning indie film of 2008.

1 Leonardo DiCaprio

Then: Where do we start? Leonardo Di Caprio has been entertaining the world for nearly three decades. With a name like Leonardo DiCaprio, he was basically destined for greatness, right? His starring role in What's Eating Gilbert Grape put him on the map. A few years later, he would star in James Cameron's Titanic, the second highest grossing film of all time, as Jack Dawson, the struggling artist who fell in love with Rose DeWitt Bukater, a passenger from first class. It was that role that caused the entire world to fall in love with him (us included)!

Now: Leonardo's popularity has continued to grow with age. In just the last ten years, he's starred and appeared in blockbusters like The Great Gatsby and The Wolf of Wall Street and that's just to name a few. This year, he finally won his first Academy award for his role in The Revenant. In addition to maintaining his spot in A-list Hollywood, Leonardo DiCaprio is also a dedicated environmental activist.
