Then And Now 15 Kardashian/Jenner Pics From Episode 1 To Today

The Kardashian and Jenner family is so famous these days that it's hard to remember a time when they weren't flooding the news and social media with their presence. Keeping Up with the Kardashians first aired on October 14, 2007, which means it's been on for over nine years and 12 seasons. That's impressive for any type of TV show, especially one about an individual family. Since it's been so long, we've seen the family undergo countless transformations physically and emotionally. In fact, we've literally seen some of the family members grow up from children to adults, we've seen marriages and divorces, and more children being born. Not to mention the countless dramas that have clearly been personal but also ended up splashed out for the entire world to see. It's really quite a lot that they've chosen to share with the general public. Here are 15 particularly noteworthy moments as captured in photos from episode one to today.

15 The Season One Promo Photo

Just look at everything that is happening here in this photo from the very first season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The gang's all there but in a very different way. We've got some pretty dated outfits happening and you can be sure that the Kardashian/Jenners aren't rocking those silhouettes in maroon and leopard print anymore. Although they do occasionally wear sparkles: Kendall Jenner just wore a sparkly mini dress out and about to celebrate her 21st birthday. Um, how is she only 21?! We also have to note that in this photo, Caitlyn Jenner was still Bruce Jenner and married to Kris, Rob hadn't gained a ton of weight, and Kendall and Kylie were literally and completely children. Kendall has actually said that she doesn't really remember what life was like before they had cameras around all the time, it's just always been a part of their experience.

14 Kim's Season Two Bentley Drama

In the second season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim decided to spend some of her hard earned money on a Bentley, which caused a bit of drama within the family. Some of that drama culminated in Kim hitting Khloe with her purse. The two were eating Chipotle at Rob's house at the time, and Kim's statement “Don't be f--king rude!” was one of the major viral moments of the show's earlier years. It's easy to imagine that there was a bit of sibling rivalry back in the day, perhaps more than there is now since Kim was the first to launch to fame and she was probably making way more money than the rest of her family. We don't want to use the word "jealous" but perhaps yes there was a bit of that. Lucky for all of them they were able to launch their own careers off the fame of Kim and the rest of the family, so it seems like everything worked out. They probably all have plenty of Bentley's at this point.

13 Season Three's Chimp Moment

In the third season of KUWTK, there was a moment where Kris expressed her desire to have yet another child. Her children were not going to sit back and take that lightly since they seemed happy enough with the giant family that they already had. To teach Kris a lesson, they brought home a monkey for her to take care of, in the hopes that she might get overwhelmed and realize that she did not want another child after all. (She never had another kid after Kylie, so maybe it worked.) In that particular episode, there was also a moment that Khloe considered moving to New York to open up another DASH boutique, and Kris was not fond of that idea at all based on the distance that would be between them. Kris seems to like having a lot of children and keeping them as close as possible. It certainly seemed to be a theme of that particular episode, and we've seen it echoed again and again over the years.

12 Khloe And Lamar's Wedding Photo

We've seen a few weddings on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, (mostly Kim's), but Khloe's wedding to Lamar Odom is very notable based on the fact that so much crazy drama came afterward. Initially, Khloe and Lamar seemed very happy and were trying unsuccessfully to have children together for quite some time. It never worked out. The Lamar started cheating on Khloe and doing drugs which led to their split, and then ultimately his partying ways almost killed him when he passed out at the Las Vegas brothel. Lamar recovered somewhat miraculously based on the initial prognosis, but he's been hard to keep track of since and tends to get new phone numbers all the time or is moving around frequently. Khloe has always cared about him a lot and has said that he's the love of her life, so she's gone through a lot trying to heal from the split while also trying to keep track of him and make sure that he's safe and healthy. That's a lot for any girl to deal with.

11 That Time Kris Almost Managed BG5

There was a point in time that Kris considered a girl group called BG5. Or at least she considered it in front of the camera -- we'll never know exactly what's real and what isn't. It's hard to imagine why Kris would ever consider adding so much more to her plate when she is already responsible for managing herself and all of her children, but at the time Kim was still the main superstar and the rest of the children had not yet reached their stride in the reality TV stardom so perhaps her workload was a little lighter. Kendall and Kylie were still young and almost certainly did not need a manager at that point in time like they do now. Of course, when Kris was considering taking on the extra role her own children thought it was a terrible idea, and they were not shy about her letting her know that. Nothing ever happened with BG5 (that we know of), so they probably would have been lucky to have Kris working for them.

10 When Kim Tried To Force Kendall To Be A Model

These days, 21-year-old Kendall is one of the biggest supermodels around, but it wasn't always that way. She had expressed her desire to be a model since a really young age, but when big sister Kim tried to help her get serious about it she had some meltdowns. When Kendall was 15 Kim took her to get some coaching for runway modeling, and Kendall ended up storming out. At the time, she whined, "You knew from the beginning I've been scared to do runway. I really don't want to be here!" She later said that "Kim originally wanted to do runway but she was too short for it, so I think she's taking her fantasy out on me." Well, the runway modeling didn't seem to be up Kendall's alley at that point in time but she certainly got over her apprehension since walking runways are pretty much all that she does these days. Kendall has walked for fashion houses like Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Alexander Wang, Chanel, Elie Saab, Christian Dior, Balmain… the list goes on and on.

9 When Oprah Stopped By

Oprah Winfrey not only interviewed the entire Kardashian family at once (minus Kourtney's son Mason who was only two at the time), but she went to their home to do it. That's kind of a big deal. In fact, when she was later asked about her favorite part of the year, Kris Jenner said that Oprah coming over was her high point, and she was then reprimanded by Kourtney's baby daddy Scott Disick who called her an "evil wench" for choosing the Oprah moment over the day that her granddaughter Penelope was born. When Oprah was there interviewing the family she went deep, touching on everything from Scott's black sheep nature to asking about whether Kim was dating Kanye West simply for the publicity. (Surely they do many things for the publicity, but at this point, that relationship does not seem to be one of those things.) That episode also started out with Kanye doing a major overhaul on Kim's closet and Khloe freaking out about the stuff they were trying to get rid of.

8 Kim's First Pregnancy

Kim's pregnancy was a big deal for many reasons. For one thing, it was the first child that she had with Kayne West. For another, she was still dealing with her divorce from Kris Humphries at the time which really stressed her out, as it would anyone. Additionally, Kim had some health issues when she was pregnant with North which caused her to gain a lot of weight and ultimately forced her to give birth earlier than she would have naturally. Kim got a lot of heat for the weight that she put on when she was pregnant with North, but people didn't realize that she couldn't do anything about the water weight gain. Not that it should make a difference in whether someone gets made fun of for their size pregnant or not. Luckily mom and baby were safe and healthy following the birth, and of course Kim ultimately not only dropped the weight but actually looks smaller than she ever has after the birth of her second child Saint.

7 Kanye's Proposal

When Kanye proposed to Kim, it was probably a long time coming, but he did it in a super fantastic surprise way that only the rich and famous could actually pull off. He not only got all of the family to San Francisco for the surprise, but he also got a ton of their friends and family to go too. Kanye actually rented out the AT&T baseball park to do the actual proposal, and only Kanye and Kris knew that it was the night of the proposal. They chartered a private jet to get everyone there and made sure that everyone was on social media lockdown so that no one would find out that they were in the city. Kim had no idea what was happening and was actually not feeling that great and wanted to stay into rest.(Luckily she didn't.) She knew that there was a birthday celebration happening but she had no idea what it was, not that all of her friends and family were already in town as well. The proposal naturally included fireworks and a 50-piece orchestra on hand to play some of Kim's favorite songs.

6 Kim's Internet Breaking Paper Mag Shoot

The whole shoot that Kim did for Paper Mag was not on the show, but there was an episode where she was promoting it. That cover shoot and the subsequent spread inside was intended to break the internet and it pretty much did. Kim posed totally nude inside for the winter 2014 magazine issue which was a shocker to many since in the past she had said that she didn't want to pose nude. And the photo of her with a champagne glass balanced on her rear end was considered a controversial choice since it based on a photo from the past with some race implications tied into it. Kim herself said that the shoot was empowering. "Paper magazine, I loved that shoot," she said. "It was so empowering to me, I was trying to get pregnant, I had put on so much weight but it was my 'I'm confident again' moment." Photographer Jean-Paul Goude shot the pictures in Paris, and interestingly the nude part was unplanned. A source said that Kim "was all game for anything and the art of it" and that she "will continue to do sexy shoots as long as she's in shape."

5 Kylie's Questions About Her Lips

Kylie started to get incredibly popular around the time that her lips got noticeably bigger. There was dual blowing up if you will. Kylie has been the most experimental with her look when it comes to the sisters, often switching up hair colors, getting complex with makeup, and causing a stir when she started making changes to her face as a minor. Naturally, people started asking her about it, especially since it was around the time that she was launching her lip kit line. We got to watch some of this go down on the show. When she was first being asked about it she basically dodged the question and explained her lip colors, so she didn't outright lie but she didn't cop up to them either. Eventually, she started admitting that yes she was getting lip fillers, and also admitted that the first time she did it she went a little overboard. Now she even mentions the name of the actual plastic surgeon that she goes to for her lips.

4 The Kids Supporting Caitlyn Jenner

Bruce's transition to Caitlyn Jenner was documented not only on Keeping Up with the Kardashians but her own show as well. Everyone in the family felt this was a massive emotional experience, besides just getting used to the physical changes. There was a bit of tension at times, since sometimes some of the kids felt like they were being kept out of the loop about what Caitlyn was going through, and it coincided with Caitlyn's split from Kris which escalated some of the normal divorce dramas that go on. Kris felt hurt by some of the things that Caitlyn said during the process, and undoubtedly they were both mourning the lives they were leaving behind. For Caitlyn coming out to the world as a woman was a huge deal, and probably terrifying. When she was being given an ESPY award it was one of the first times that she was taking the stage since the transition, and all of her children and extended family showed up to support her.

3 The St.Barts Trip

In season eleven, the family heads to St. Barts in an attempt to relax and try to forget some of their troubles, but naturally things get a little complex as usual. Kylie got some heat for inviting her boyfriend Tyga when no one else brought their significant others. (It's funny how casual they make it seem that someone unexpected showed up in St. Barts like it's a quick drive to the local pizza joint or something.) Kim was mad at her mom for a previous argument over Kris wanting to give Lamar a second chance when she didn't feel like he deserved it. Then Khloe finds out that Lamar did an interview where he said that he was still in love with her which was stressful, but she also realized that she had been too hard on her mom throughout this process. But the drama didn't end there, at the end of the episode Kourtney came across more photos of Scott hanging out with other women, which ultimately did end up leading to the downfall of their relationship. For a girl's trip there sure was a lot of man drama.

2 Rob And Chyna's Engagement

When the news broke about Rob and Chyna dating and getting engaged and expecting a baby, things got a little crazy. Rob was being public about the news without telling his family specifics, and there was some past drama with Chyna and family already since she had dated and has a child with Kylie's boyfriend Tyga, and was formerly friends with Kim but they'd had some sort of falling out. Not your average family drama, but the Kardashian's are far from average. There was definitely some tension around all of this but ultimately everyone came together and proved as usual that they take family seriously and decided to wipe the slate clean of anything that happened in the past and just move forward. Rob and Blac were moving pretty quickly in their relationship, so it seemed important for everyone to jump on board as well. In fact, they haven't had time to get married yet but the two did just welcome their first child together, a daughter who they named Dream.

1 Kim Calling Out Taylor Swift

Part of the Taylor Swift and Kanye West controversy was captured on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Essentially, Taylor told the media that she was feeling victimized about Kanye mentioning her in the song famous with the line "I made that b*tch famous." But Kim seemed to have recorded footage of a phone call between Taylor and Kanye where she said it was fine for him to use the lyric. In the episode, Kim tells her mom that she did an interview with GQ magazine where she called Taylor out once and for all. In the interview she said "It was funny because [on the call with Kanye, Taylor] said, 'When I get on the Grammy red carpet, all the media is going to think that I'm so against this, and I'll just laugh and say, 'The joke's on you, guys. I was in on it the whole time.' And I'm like, wait, but [in] your Grammy speech, you completely dissed my husband just to play the victim again." For the Kardashian/Jenner/West crew, family always comes first.
