15 Kardashian Quotes To Live By
Say what you will about the Kardashians, but the girls are capable of giving some pretty solid advice every now and then. Kourtney, Kim, and Khloé don't have the best reputations when it comes to being role models, but seeing as they spend the majority of their time in front of a camera, it's only natural that they're going to say the right thing sometimes. Don't get us wrong, they definitely say some stuff that we wouldn't live our lives by, but the following Kardashian quotes actually make total sense! The girls have a lot of experience when it comes to romance, business, motherhood, body image, and confidence, and the things they've said reflect the lessons they've learned during their own lives in the spotlight. Get ready for some on-point advice on the attitude you should have for life, the way you should deal with problems, and the way you should relate to others. Here are 15 Kardashian quotes to live by.
15 Being The View
When it comes to being hilarious and right at the same time, we can't look past the eldest Kardashian child! Kourtney and Scott could really have their own empire away from the rest of the family and fund it all with the interest they get from people purely watching to see the sassiness they hurl at each other. Without wanting to sound egotistical here, we do think Kourtney has a point! It's important to recognize your own self-worth and be proud of what you have to offer. That's not to say that you should literally expect to be the center of attention at all times -- that probably wouldn't work in any other circumstance besides within a Kardashian reality TV show. But think of Kourtney and don't be afraid to stand up for yourself and never accept less than what you're worth. And if you want to actually use this line on somebody, please film it!
14 Remembering The Bright Side
Kourtney's advice on the way to handle a break up is probably worth taking, considering she's been through just about every kind of situation with Scott. We are loving this attitude! Although she might have felt totally sad inside when talking to Kris about her break up, she chose to point out at least one bright side to the whole thing. We all know that having extra closet space is not as important as having the person you love by your side, but the point is she's at least looking for positives. Even if she can't find many or she doesn't necessarily believe in them, making an effort to have a positive attitude is the first step in having a strong, positive outlook! You might have to fake it at first with comments like this, but if you train yourself to look for positives, you'll soon notice them naturally, which is super important.
13 The Meaning Of Fitness
We love this, and it's so relevant! If we're being honest, social media has helped to motivate a lot of people to take control of their health and make an effort towards being fit. But it's also brought about so much unnecessary competition between people, and we don't get it at all! It's fine to use other people to motivate and inspire you to hit the treadmill, but when you start comparing yourself to others and becoming obsessed with being better than them you've kind of missed the point. Koko is right here: fitness is about being better than you used to be. You're still successful if you aren't as fit as your bestie, as long as you're fitter than your old self. We would definitely take Khloé's advice here and make sure that our health is always our own journey, rather than trying to compete with other people who are on their own journey!
12 You Can't Plan Your Life Out
This is so simple, and yet so true! Kourtney is absolutely right in saying that you can't plan your life out. Okay, some people are more organized than others and some people thrive on plans and routines. There's nothing wrong with that! But no matter how prepared you are, life will always throw things at you that you weren't expecting. Some of them will be horrible, some of them will be challenging and some of them will be the best thing to ever happen to you. You don't really have a say in what comes your way! There's no way that you'll be able to anticipate every little thing, even if you've got everything planned out in detail. So it's better to accept it and enjoy the ride. You can of course control how you react to what life throws at you. You always have the choice between drowning in acidity or making lemonade!
11 Proving People Wrong
Like her sisters, Kim Kardashian is also packed with wisdom. This is one of our favorite Kim quotes: “I love when people underestimate me and then become pleasantly surprised.” We feel like Kim has had this sort of thing happen to her a lot in her life, so she would know how good it feels to prove people wrong! This quote is important to remember because having people underestimate you or not believe in you can actually be totally hurtful, and might even make you want to give up. If you ever feel like that, just remember Kim! It does feel really good when people say you couldn't and then you show them you can. The look on their faces is definitely worth all the time and effort you have to put into actually proving them wrong, so although it can be hard, we would recommend using this quote as a motivational tool!
10 Only Saying Nice Things
We should really be thanking Papa Robert Kardashian for this quote, but we're glad Khloé brought it up! Teaching your kids to never say hurtful words to anybody is a strong action and one that will probably end up making the world a better place! We agree with this aspect of the raising of the Kardashian children and are totally taking it on board. It's easy to get caught up in saying things that we really don't mean, whether it's making a comment about somebody or getting angry and saying something hurtful to their face. The less that we do of that, though, the better! We all know it doesn't feel good to be on the receiving end of such comments, and unless you've specifically been sought out to give constructive criticism, personal opinions and judgment like that really don't help anybody. All they do is make the world an uglier place.
9 Doing The Work
Kim's body is perhaps the most famous in the world, so we're totally interested in hearing anything she has to say on the concept of body image or health and fitness. When it comes to getting into shape, it turns out that Kim fully understands the level of commitment required to make some positive changes! “If I don't feel confident about my body, I'm not going to sit at home and feel sorry for myself and not do something about it. It's all about taking action and not being lazy. So you do the work, whether it's fitness or whatever. It's about getting up, motivating yourself and just doing it.” Amen, sister! Don't feel bad about sitting around and feeling sorry for yourself -- we've all done it! Just understand that isn't the way to body confidence, and any sort of changes are going to take work! If Kim can't avoid working her butt off, nobody can.
8 Turning Cat-Calling Around
So they might not have some quotes that are revolutionary, but we love how certain quotes work in context! Provocative words were exchanged in an episode (from Kourtney to be exact) in response to some cat-calling, and we are totally for the message she's trying to get across about this problem. Many people assume that shouting things out to a gal you don't know, whether it's on the street or on the beach, is a way of boosting her confidence, and something that she craves. Cat-calling might have that effect on some people, but it's never cool to assume that it does because, for most, it's actually really uncomfortable. It can make women feel unsafe, and the more people who understand that, the better! By asking an equally uncomfortable question back to a cat-caller, Kourtney is pointing out that this behavior probably wouldn't be well-received if it were turned around, it's kind of gross, and it should just stop. Here, here!
7 Being Childless
Unlike her sisters, Khloé is yet to settle down and start a family, and there's nothing wrong with that! Once you get to a certain age as a woman, and in some cultures the age in question is a little ridiculous, people will, unfortunately, question you if you don't have kids. It's fine if your goal is to be a mom, but it's important to keep in mind that it's not everybody's goal, and insinuating that they have a problem because their goal isn't the same as yours is kind of silly. Some women might share that goal of being a mom one day, but might be waiting to reach a certain point in their career first or might be waiting to find the right person. In any case, everybody is free to travel along at their own pace, and Khloé is right in pointing out that these comments are annoying AF.
6 Dealing With Bullies
Khloé is on fire! Nobody is making excuses for people who are bullies-it's always their choice to be a jerk, and just because somebody was a jerk to them, it doesn't give them a right to extend that behavior on to someone else. Really, lots of people suffer through tough circumstances and end up being as genuine and kind-hearted as the next person! However, we feel like Koko is trying to say that even though bullying somebody is never okay, it can help you deal with it if you understand why they're doing that in the first place. It's always helpful to remember that 99% of the time, it isn't personal! It's true that bullies commonly suffer from low self-esteem, and when you think about it, they must have learned how to belittle people from somewhere. You don't have to excuse them, but understand that their life isn't happy and it will give you peace!
5 Dinner Over Weight
Um, yes please. Trying to strike up a balance between looking after your health and living life to the fullest is always going to be challenging, so we like to remember this Kourtney Kardashian quote when we're getting a little bit too obsessed with the health side of things! Of course, it's super-important to take your health seriously, but everybody needs a night off. It's difficult to watch every little thing you eat and stick to your exercise regimen religiously, so we definitely believe in cutting yourself some slack every now and then! Clean foods aren't as bland as people think and it's true that you can have a varied and colorful diet that's actually satisfying while making sure you stay healthy, but when you've earned it, feel free to splurge! Trying new foods and indulging in old comforts are a part of life, and life is there to be lived!
4 Forgetting Regrets
Kim's advice is always surprisingly insightful! When it comes to thinking about mistakes she made in the past, this is what Kim had to say: “If I had known better, I would have done better.” These are some powerful words! It's easy to drive yourself crazy thinking about what you did in the past. Regret is one of the hardest things to deal with because it totally eats you up, and there's nothing you can do to change it. When you have hindsight on your side, it's easy to be hard on yourself and rethink what you could have done better. Kim's right, though-you did what you thought was right at the time. Very rarely do people think, “I know this is stupid and I'll regret it but I'll do it anyway.” Well, sometimes they do #YOLO. Mostly, though, you did the best you could at the time. Don't be so hard on yourself!
3 Being Respected
Being in the spotlight 24/7, the Kardashians know what it's like to be respected by masses of people and to be disrespected by masses of people. So we're all ears when one of them has some advice about the concept of receiving and dishing out respect! Kim said, “It's so important to insist on being treated with respect. That means treating yourself with respect, too.” Respect is important in relationships because it's really the basis on which they're formed. You can't have good love without mutual respect! In order to demand respect from the people you interact with, Kim is pointing out that you have to teach them what you'll accept and what you won't by treating yourself in the same way. What's respectful and what isn't is a huge matter of debate, and we suppose everybody has a different notion of what respecting yourself means. You'll know what's right for you!
2 Being Skinny
We need to frame this and hang it up on the wall! In what might be our favorite Kim Kardashian quote of all time, Kim points out what being skinny actually is: “For me, skinny is just a style of jeans-not a goal.” Yass girl! We are all for being healthy and feeling good about yourself, but the word “skinny” honestly gets way more attention than it deserves. Too many people aspire to be skinny rather than healthy, which is a mistake. Firstly, how boring would the world be if everybody looked exactly the same?! Why is one type of body considered to be more beautiful than another? There's also the little issue of people having different body types and being perfectly healthy while maintaining their curves or their muscles. The goal of being skinny without a desire to just be healthy should stay in the '90s where it belongs!
1 Gaining Perspective
Our top quote has to go to Kourtney. Of course, the eldest Kardashian is the wisest! This situation took place when the family went on a vacation in Bora Bora and Kim lost her earrings in the ocean after Kris Humphries threw her in. Kim was getting really worked up over it, and we do get it because losing your jewelry is upsetting. But Kourtney's response is priceless, and a lesson we'd all do well to remember! Sadly, people are dying every day, and there is always somebody with bigger problems. Of course, you're allowed to be upset and express yourself, but it helps to remember that you don't have to give up because it could really be worse. Happiness comes from gratitude, so by remembering what you have instead of what you want or what you don't have, you could find yourself feeling pretty chipper in no time. Thanks for that, Kourtney!
